Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about how this site works, how to choose a session, and what is coming with the app. If your question is about the practice itself — how many rounds, how long to hold, whether it is safe — the guide covers those in more depth.
Getting started
Everything here is free and nothing requires an account. If you have never done a breathing round, the beginners hub is the place to start: three-round sessions, slow pacing, and the safety rules that matter most stated plainly. Read the step-by-step guide first if you like knowing what is coming, or simply press play and follow the voice — the sessions are complete in themselves and assume no preparation.
Finding the right session
The catalogue is large on purpose, because the right session on a tired Tuesday is not the right session on a free Sunday. Three tools help you navigate it. The hubs group sessions by what you need — sleep, anxiety, energy, focus, or getting started. The catalogue pages group them by specification — number of rounds, pace, background sound, retention length. And Build your own session lets you set the variables directly and see what matches.
If you would rather practise to your own rhythm, with no voice and no video, the breathing timer does the counting for you.
About the practice
The questions people ask most about the method itself — how many rounds to do, how long to hold, whether it is dangerous, what the science actually shows — each have their own page, because each deserves more than a paragraph. The safety guide is the one worth reading before your first session.
About the app
The Meditorama app is in testing. It brings the same catalogue into your pocket, with filters, a retention log that draws your progress over time, and offline downloads. There is a waitlist, and joining it means one email on launch day and nothing else.
Never practise in or near water, or while driving. Always sit or lie down. Not suitable during pregnancy, or if you have epilepsy, a heart condition, high blood pressure or a history of fainting — speak with your doctor first.
Frequently asked questions
- Is everything on this site free?
- Yes. Every session and every article here is free, with no account and no limits. The sessions are hosted on YouTube, which is how the work is paid for.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. Nothing here asks you to sign up. The only form on the site is the app waitlist, and that is optional.
- Which session should I start with?
- A three-round beginner session with slow pacing. If you would rather be pointed at something specific, the beginners hub is built for exactly that.
- How do I find a session with the exact settings I want?
- Use Build your own session — choose rounds, breaths, pace, retention and background sound, and it returns the sessions that match.
- Can I practise without a video?
- Yes. The breathing timer counts the breaths and holds the silence with you, with no voice and no video, so your own rhythm leads.
- Can I download the sessions to practise offline?
- Not from the website. Offline downloads are one of the things the app is being built for — join the waitlist and we will tell you when it launches.
- How often are new sessions published?
- New sessions go up regularly on the YouTube channel and appear here automatically. Subscribing on YouTube is the fastest way to hear about them.
- Who is guiding the sessions?
- Most English sessions are guided by Dex, who has been making these recordings since 2019 and practises the method daily.
- Are the sessions available in other languages?
- Portuguese and Spanish sessions exist on our secondary YouTube channels. This website is currently English only; the other languages are planned.
- Is this the official Wim Hof Method?
- We are independent practitioners, not affiliated with Wim Hof or his organisation. We produce guided sessions based on the method as it is publicly taught.
- Is this safe? Who should not do it?
- Practised lying down and never in water, it is well tolerated by most healthy adults. It is not suitable during pregnancy, or with epilepsy, heart conditions, high blood pressure or a history of fainting. Please read the safety guide before your first session.
- When is the app coming, and what will it do?
- It is in testing. It will let you build a session from your own settings, log your retention times and watch them grow, and practise offline. Join the waitlist to hear first.
- How do I get in touch?
- Through the contact page. We read everything, though we cannot always reply quickly.
